Jumpstart’s Read for the Record a Great Success!
MAAE in partnership with Jumpstart participates annually in Read for the Record–a national effort to ensure an excitement for reading in children. Every year, Jumpstart partners with the Pearson Foundation to choose and publish a Read for the Record specific book. This year’s book was Bunny Cakes; a Ruby and Max storybook. EVERY child is familiar with Ruby and Max and were so excited to learn about Ruby’s cake and watch Max make his own earthworm cake for his grandma (yuck!!).
The numbers are still rolling in! If you read Bunny Cakes to a child or a classroom, please go to the Jumpstart website and click the link to report your numbers.
MPB rolled out Read for the Record at Dawson Elementary with Storyteller Doris Jones. Chef cooked up a cake for the teachers to enjoy and cupcakes and backpacks were provided for each child.
Please let MAAE know if you read Bunny Cakes! Send us your name, the school name, how many children you read to, and photos. We will post them on our website and feature more in our next newsletter.
